Australia is not as safe as it once was.
Australian’s can’t even buy a coffee now or wait at a bus stop without being at risk of violence.
Two weeks ago at around 9pm on Thursday December 11,2015 Brian Anthony Liston (51) was waiting at a bus stop in Sydney’s inner suburb of Camperdown on the corner of Salisbury Road and Church Street. Brian was a primary school teacher at Strathfield South Public School and was waiting for the 412 bus to his home in Earlwood.
Unprovoked, William Rodney Cahill (28), a stranger, came up to Brian and stabbed him multiple times killing him.
Residents heard his desperate screams as he was being stabbed to death. One resident, Pete Smith, said he armed himself with a baseball bat and, with the help of other onlookers, subdued the 28-year-old man before police arrived and arrested him.
The victim, and had never met his killer. The murder was random, just like the tends of thousands every year across the United States.
Police say he was simply “in the wrong place at the wrong time”.
Law and order is no longer good enough!
Was it an ICE induced drug frenzied attack? Who knows, who cares?
Weak criminal laws mean that murderers plea bargain with courts to get lesser charges and then lesser sentences, typically out of gaol within 8 years.
In 2012, Sydney man Michael John Duffy (34) and his former lover Rachel Evans strangled Colleen Deborah Ayers (33) to death. Duffy buried Ms Ayres body in a shallow grave on Ms Ayres’ parents’ property. Evans got 18 years, but Duffy only 8 years gaol.
In 2010, Eden Delir (17) was mugged by six male teens in a gang , ‘The Wakeley Boys‘, at a Halloween party at Bossley Park in Western Sydney.
Encouraging and supporting each other, they hit him with a metal pole, smashed a wine bottle over his head and kicked, punched and stomped on him at Bossley Park in Sydney’s west.
Eden was seen curling up in the foetal position during the ambush, crying out “stop, stop, leave me alone”. The 17-year-old died less than a week later.
The attackers only got only between five years and eight years gaol for Eden’s murder.
Australia has become unsafe like the rest of the world.
It is time Australians protected themselves, armed themselves with legal handguns and defended themselves.
Better getting 8 years than being dead!
