The group fled the scene, south along Cook Avenue, taking cash and keys.
The taxi driver was uninjured during the incident.

Officers attached to Botany Bay Local Area Command were called and commenced investigations.
As they continue their inquiries, police would like to speak to five males who may be able to assist them.
They are described as being of:
– Caucasian appearance, about 170cm tall, aged between 13 and 17 years, of slim build, with a slim face, short brown ‘crew-cut’ hair.
– Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 152cm tall, aged between 13 and 17 years, of slim build, with thick lips.
– Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 165cm tall, aged between 13 and 17 years, of ‘stocky’ build, and a partially-closed right eye.
– Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, about 163cm tall, aged between 13 and 17 years, of ‘solid build, with short dark curly hair.
– Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, and aged between 13 and 17 years.
Police believe the incident may be linked to a similar incident in the area, which occurred about 4am on Monday 3 March, where a taxi driver was robbed by three males armed with a knife.
