Why you won’t have nationalism any time soon
The sheer effort conservatives and their monied associations expend undermining nationalism is unbelievable. But only if you have not been around the nationalist project very long. Likewise, the involvements they court with seemingly extraneous groups and individuals would amaze those prepared to follow the logic to accept the rationale.
A while back, around 2016, when the influencers for these “pig-iron progeny” were self-regarded “patriots” their handlers soon realised the benefits in appropriating the word “nationalism,” which until then was wholly recognised as territory belonging to radical nationalists extolling the labourite “heritage” (at least to those pulling the strings who knew better).
They chose “patriot” because, being of kosher origins, their program courted ‘diversity minus Islam,’ and its rules were enforced by precursor organisations to today’s muddled “far-right” clans. In those days, the United Patriots Front’s leaders created publicity by ejecting ‘Nazis’ from their rallies to deflect accusations of ‘racism’ which never worked anyway. Today, these Tergiversatory weathercocks are loudly defending these imitation Nazis. Neither have lost their conservative apologists and followers.
The distinction between each subject is important: A patriot accepts anything from his country whereas a nationalist will call his country to account when it’s wrong. That may not be interpreted purely as to whether its governing parties choose a dubious path but if the nation’s actions are questionable.
Today, the crashing waves around the word have battered its meaning so that the natural opponent of the radical nationalist—the conservative reactionary—is propagating its satellites by adopting the title. In doing so, they have bastardised its ideological connotations, lending them interpretations supporting causes and institutions eschewed by the authors of Australian nationalism. They have made heroes of those like Robert Menzies, one of nationalism’s most despised figures, and elevated turncoats veiled in patriotic paraphernalia full well knowing the average chook they feed online cannot discern the difference so long as the mirage of patriotism is embedded in their symbols.
The animosity between the robber-baron conservative and nationalist stretches all the way back to the battles fought by the workers to secure basic rights such as a living wage and the right to organise. The dilettantes of the monied elites that owned much of Australia’s wealth, plundered by the Empire and its agents, who carved up the pastoral land, got rich off overpriced contracts to build our infrastructure through dirty deals with their shonky parliamentarian allies who shared their ‘class’. Today’s youngsters, perennially divided by those above, think the “boomers” took everything: if only they knew.
These Antipodean aristocrats (sic) viewed themselves as maintaining the British phlegm in the colony. They were quite comfortable exploiting the rabble for labour to fatten their coffers and occasionally sail back to the motherland to parade themselves before society with the arched-brows of smugness. Any idea that a ‘Bolshevik’ mentality might upset their apple cart was attacked with the full apparatus of the state, which they controlled. The battles fought by the workers were no joke: men were jailed in brutal prisons because they dared challenge the status quo. Many were killed outright.
These were the men with vision: these were the men who truly wished to better themselves. These men worked the land and understood its beauty as something more than raw resources to be tilled, mined, and ripped asunder from the ground. They wrote poems about the country; they painted the scenery when anything ‘Australian’ was not just unfashionable but regarded as ‘gauche’ by the art world. These were men who embraced their newfound ‘nativity’ to the country and slowly assembled the ambitions to exploit—not its earthly riches—but the opportunity it afforded for a new way of life; an idyll where the best of the old world could be transplanted while the baggage—such as class strife—could be thrown off like a cruel rider in the pursuit of this egalitarian ‘working man’s paradise’ down under.
Thanks to the intervention of two wars and the temptations of graft this project was never realised. The thalidomide years under Menzies following Labor’s self-implosion and split led Australia into the great white dreamtime. Only, the dreams were empty, but the country slept. From now on, it wasn’t foreign invasion the country withered at, but “communism,” that great bogey of the exploiter class represented by none better than Bob Menzies. After Arthur Calwell, well-meant as he was, bolstered the country’s labour force by turning to Eastern Europe, instead of finding those who would be proud Australians he opened the gates to peoples that isolated in their communities. They did not see the ‘White Australia’ that Calwell did, they saw only ‘communist bad,’ and through the years, the exploiters inside the Liberal party worked hard to break that last seal preventing the importation of third world labour with their support.
Don’t let a conservative ever tell you that they’re a ‘patriot’ when organisations such as the British Australian Community (BAC) view the country through the lens of the Anglophile colonial. Their idyll would be sipping gin and ice on a plantation in a Panama hat while the kanakas sweat and toil under the crack of the whip to produce them the money to pursue a life of parasitic idleness. They are anachronists: creatures of the global fiat system with quirks regarding identity but no solid desire for revolution. They exist on outdated notions in an updated ideological inheritance dangerously at odds with the reality of the country and times they are living in. They are Zionists by social genetics, they are capitalists and they are in the way.
They have the money and it’s incumbent on them when they hear early rumblings in the underground of politics to move quickly on anything that may be construed as ‘right-wise,’ co-opt it, and if they can’t own it, appropriate it. This is what their Zionist masters expect, and even if they suck you in by talk of “noticing” you will find out in the long run who you serve. One thing they will never allow is the self-reliant Australian man who desires to isolate from a corrupt world and live, as genetics say he should, among his own kind in a country motivated not by greed but by equality and cooperation. █
